Summer Antiques
Extravaganza
July 22-31, 2009
The
Only Summer Buying Trip Available to Central Europe –
Great Sources, Great Selection
A fast-paced, insider’s trip for
the antiques buff, dealer, interior designer, architect, collector or
adventurer. Put the dog in the kennel, ask the
neighbor to water your plants, and get ready to scour Central
Europe’s back-roads, villages, towns and cities for
world-class antique furniture, garden and architectural
antiques, art, collectibles and design accessories.
You’ll visit wholesale sources, shops,
warehouses, galleries, auction houses and the best antique
markets in the region. Stops include
Prague, northern Bohemia, Leipzig and Dresden,
Saxony and Thuringia .
Antiques
are front and center stage on this expedition, but you’ll be
able to take time out to see cultural attractions and
historical sites. And you’ll kick back in the evening and
enjoy regional cuisine, great wines and terrific
beers.
Get ready to flex your antiques muscles -- you’ll
be stretching yourself on this expedition. There’s no
shop too far, no warehouse too dusty, no market open too early
and no warehouse open too late for us. The
Extravaganza offers you a rich, diverse antiquing
experience that is not available anywhere else in
Europe. We’ll be trawling fresh new sources
throughout the region, where shops and warehouses are filled
to the rafters with treasures of all kinds. We’ll also
include two days of shopping at three of
the biggest and best antique markets in the region
-- two in southeastern Germany and the other in the Czech
Republic. Ssshhh! For now, most of our
sources are happily off the map, and virtually no Americans
shop there. You’ll enjoy unparalleled
access!
Objects
of Desire
You’ll see high-style and
vernacular furniture from five centuries
–
Baroque, Biedermeier, Louis Philippe, various other
19th Century styles, Provincial, Art
Nouveau, Art Deco, Postwar, Country, Black Forest, Lodge and
more. Also:
architectural fragments, antique
tiles, wrought iron gates and fencing, stained
glass. And a huge selection of
furnishings, art, small antiques
and special objects awaits
you: studio glass, porcelain, pottery, jewelry, vintage
textiles and antique linens, miniatures, folk art, graphics,
paintings, lighting, kitchenalia, country antiques,
technical and
medical antiques, dolls, toys
and much more. B uy a little or
a lot -- there is no minimum purchase or
mandatory "buy-in". Prices in Central Europe tend to be lower
than in France, the Low Countries, and the U.K., and the
selection is huge.
Our Antiques Getaway provides all
the ingredients for stress-free antiquing
: an individual guided shopping experience,
comfortable accommodations, great technical support, and
individual attention. Plan your getaway now.

Shipping
If you’ve ever shopped for antiques
overseas, you know that shipping them home is expensive,
complicated and time-consuming, and can be a source of endless
frustration! People who hear about our antique buying
trips for the first time often can’t believe that we offer
such a diverse itinerary, so many venues, such great
ground arrangements
and include shipping all
for one
price . This is a winning combination
-- and it sets us apart from many other antique tours, where
transatlantic shipping is an additional
cost.
We will work with local dealers to make
sure your treasures are delivered to the loading place, or
arrange transportation if necessary (charges may apply for
local transport). We oversee loading, export
documentation and get the container to the
port
. We handle wharfage and ocean
freight as part of our service. If you
need short-term storage in Europe or the U.S. we can
arrange that as well. Extra charges apply
for warehousing, customs, insurance, ground freight and additional
services if required. But we will help you stay on top of
these.
If you think you will be buying a
larger quantity of antiques, we can arrange a solo
container
for you at additional cost. We
can have your items packed, cleared, freighted to the U.S. and
delivered to your door for one price. Contact us early on
so we can discuss your needs and find a solution that works
best.
We also arrange container shipment to
southern and west coast ports in North
America, as well as the U.K. Australia, New
Zealand, Korea and other countries
. Please contact us if you have
questions. We would be glad to help.
Great antiquing -- friendly prices – flexible
shipping options! Reserve your tour now!
